Our History

The Lopez Family runs the show at Taqueria Lupita’s and is the second generation of ownership. Her parents migrated to Detroit from Guadalajara (known for the tequila, mariachi, and its rich history and traditions), with years of food experience, and began working in kitchens in the city. Years later, they opened Lupita’s and introduced the city to traditional food from Jalisco, Mexico.

The menu expanded to include a variety of offerings, including they’re well known “street style tacos”. Lopez continues the tradition by offering a variety of taco meat options like lengua, tripas, cabeza, and pastor. And beyond tacos offerings of caldos, enchiladas, chiles rellenos, and fajitas.
